No Fucking Ice Cream2018

Texas, October 2005. Three teenagers say their final good-byes to their father who ist o die shortly afterwards. JaBoria, Tikeira and Ronald Jr. cannot hug their father. They have never touched him. Their father is sitting in a cage behind bullet-proof glass. Two days later, he is executed.

Ten years later, we meet the three siblings. How have their lives developed since then? How do they deal with their trauma today? And do they have an actual chance to break the vicious cycle and live better lives than their Dad did?

NO FUCKING ICE CREAM breaks a taboo. It tells a story that has never been told before. The children of executed men and women are the hidden victims of the death penalty. They stand in the dark, their voices unheard. Children who lost a parent to the death penalty are not only traumatized but they are stigmatized as well.

NO FUCKING ICE CREAM is a deeply moving film about loss and anger, about gangs and drugs, love and family ties. It is a film about guilt and inter-generational responsibilities. And it is, last but not least, a film about systemic racism in America today.
